Our projects

Our organization is involved in various projects.

Samaritan Initiative Organization engages donors, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders to join hands together in improving community livelihoods, health, water hygiene and sanitation, environmental conservation, rights (women, children, youth, people with disabilities and elderly), education that promote transformation of people’s lives within the community.

Education
Education programmes that contribute in achieving inclusive and equitable quality education and promote favourable learning environment for all.

Therefore the following objectives shall contribute to the education goal by working in partnership with other actors and shareholders.

  • Children (boys and girls) have access to quality early childhood and primary education.
  • Children of grade two (boys and girls) are acquitted with 3Rs (reading, writing and arithmetic.
  • Increased numbers of youth completed life skills and vocational skills for self employment.
  • Promote equal access of education to persons with disabilities.
Livelihoods
Promote agricultural productivity and profitability of smallholder producers.
79% of Tanzania’s population are living in rural areas where agriculture is the mainstay of livelihoods, about 70% of households, have continued to post slower growth. The agriculture sector is largely made up of smallholders who have not benefited from the same momentum as other sectors.

Samaritan initiative organization contributes toward this goal by the following objectives:

  • Promote agricultural productivity and profitability of smallholder producers particularly women, men, youth farmers, pastoralists, beekeepers and fish farmers.
  • Improved markets of agriculture products through value chain and value addition.
  • Promote cultivation and utilization of nutritious food within the families
  • Promote technological advancement and modernization farming to small holder farmers
  • To promote, encourage, establish and develop small scale industries to promote self employment.
ADVOCACY FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS
Women, children, youth, disabled and elderly, on economic, education, rights and leadership.

People with disabilities often live in severe poverty due to the challenge of securing a steady income amid widespread exclusion. With only 3.1% receiving income from paid employment, households headed by persons with disabilities experience greater levels of poverty. Therefore, SIO aims at improving the livelihood and education of Persons with disabilities for self reliance and self employment by promoting the inclusive education in all levels of Tanzania education and engagement in social and economic activities.

Health care
Aim at improving availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for communities.
SIO’s WASH programs aims at improving availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for communities by providing clear and safe water. In addition, ensure the hygiene and sanitation with the community is improved and maintained by having and using toilets and practices hand washing.

Jithubutu project

The project contribute towards the improvement of youth self-reliance, self-employment and health for their wellbeing through promoting and sharing youth talents for self-employment and learning positive thinking.

The project offer space for youth to learn and practice dancing, improve their expression and comprehensive skills in different languages and participate in various workshops and courses that will allow them to exercises a set of intellectual skills essential for personal development. Moreover the project offer young people a library service where they can benefit from reading books on a wide range of topics and in different languages. In this regards, the project activities carried out are as follows;

DANCE AS A WAY TO GAIN DISCIPLINE AND COURAGE

This is crucial because many of the young people need to let go of experiences that have burdened them since childhood. Establishing connections with others is vital for our well-being. Social interactions combat loneliness. All in all dancing increases the levels of the happy hormone, serotonin, and helps reduce stress. There’s nothing like a good dose of happiness to have self-confidence.

CONVERSATION SESSIONS

Conversation sessions are intended for those who wish to use and improve their oral expression and comprehension skills in different languages. The main objective of conversation is to express ideas as a group and feel heard and valued, in addition to perfecting the language being used. This leads to a dynamic where empathy emerges, allowing individuals to connect with others and establish better relationships.

MUSIC AND CREATIVITY

Engaging in creative musical activities can be a source of satisfaction and personal growth on multiple levels. In Tanzania, music is part of the cultural heritage. Through music, values and ancestral knowledge are transmitted. This strengthens the sense of community, social cohesion, and respect for history and traditions. It is the most natural way to ensure global musical diversity and cultural enrichment for future generations.

TABLE GAMES, A WAY TO LEARN AND ENJOY

They help practice essential cognitive skills such as decision-making, high-level strategic thinking, and problem-solving. Moreover, the time they spend together is utilized to strengthen relationships and create a sense of teamwork away from the harmful environment of the streets.
